Transpyrenea 2025

The great crossing of the Pyrenees: the stages, the dates, and everything you need to know about Transpyrenea, one of the toughest mountain running challenges.

Between August 1 and 19, the stunning and imposing Pyrenees mountain range will be traversed by the world's best trail runners – this is the Grande Travesia Transpyrenea, one of the toughest and most exciting trail challenges, which has gained notoriety for its epic nature and degree of difficulty.

Transpyrenea – The Great Crossing

Organized by RSO – Raid Sahara Organization since 2016, The Grande Traversée Transpyrenea is an ultra-endurance event consisting of a crossing on foot of the Pyrenees mountain range, covering more than 800 km, in several stages and over two weeks. Throughout the crossing, athletes must be self-sufficient and able to cope with the most adverse conditions.

The 2025 edition: the events and routes

The 2025 edition will take place between August 1 and 19, starting in Banyuls-sur-Mer and finishing in Hendaye, in four major stages:
1. the start in Banyuls-sur-Mer, in French Catalonia, a region of mountainous and rugged terrain, where heat and sun exposure will be the main challenges;
2. the crossing of Ariège, a region of isolated landscapes and very technical trails;
3. the stage of Bigorre and Béarn, a territory of green hills and valleys, but where the climate is very unstable;
4. the arrival in Hendaye, in the Basque Country, on a route through very picturesque rural areas and along the Atlantic coastline.

In addition to testing participants' physical endurance, strength, and determination, Transpyrenea is also a journey of discovery of the ecological richness, historical heritage, and local culture and traditions of the regions covered by each stage.
