September is a month packed with sporting events, some of which are eagerly awaited by athletes, professionals, amateurs, and the general public who enjoy physical and outdoor activities. Examples include the 29th Corrida da Nau, the 11th edition of the Auchan Race, and the Oeiras Open Water Race.

The 29th edition of the Nau Race

The Corrida da Nau (Ship Race) is one of the most emblematic events in the city of Vila do Conde and one of the most popular races in Portugal. Now in its third decade, the event celebrates the city's maritime heritage and owes its name to the fact that the start and finish lines are located next to Vila do Conde's iconic 16th-century ship. This vessel is a faithful replica of a 16th-century Portuguese ship that sailed the Indian Ocean.
Year after year, the Nau Race has gained fans among professional and amateur athletes, and the general population, as it is an event open to all, consisting of two races: a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer walk.
The Corrida da Nau is organized by the Os Rompe Solas Athletics Club and EventSport, with the support of the Vila do Conde City Council and Parish Council, the Porto Athletics Association, and the AAP Regional Arbitration Council.

The 11th edition of the Auchan Race

The Auchan Race is another of the most eagerly awaited events for sports and healthy living enthusiasts, known for its family-friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The event takes place in Lisbon and consists of several races: the 10-kilometer race, the 5-kilometer walk, and the Rik&Rok race for children. Alongside these, the 2024 edition of the Auchan Race also offers parallel activities aimed at the general public, which do not require registration, including traditional games and gymkhanas, as well as trial classes in various sports such as golf, tennis, crossfit, gymnastics, canoeing, chess, capoeira, etc. The organizers have not left our four-legged friends out, and there is a Pet Friendly area with activities such as dog walking and the Pet Obstacle Challenge.

The Oeiras Open Water Race

Another event that is eagerly awaited is the Oeiras Open Water Race, an open water swimming competition that challenges athletes of all levels to test their limits in the Atlantic Ocean. Participants can compete in three distances: 750 meters, 1500 meters, and 3000 meters. The Oeiras Open Water Race is making its debut and was organized by Clube Olímpico de Oeiras and HMS Sports, with the support of the Oeiras City Council.
