More than just a trend, sustainability is seen as the way forward in terms of effectively reducing the environmental footprint and, as we are seeing in other sectors, the medals, trophies and awards industry is also adopting measures and practices that lead to a new paradigm of sustainable production.
Sustainable materials
The use of sustainable materials in the manufacture of medals, trophies and awards is undoubtedly the main and most significant measure that contributes to minimizing environmental impact, and it is also the one most resisted by manufacturers and customers. Sustainable materials include recycled materials and those that come from sustainable sources (responsible origin, waste and/or leftovers from other industries).
At Tributus we use materials from waste and/or leftovers from other industries in our region, thus reducing the impact of transportation.
Production with low environmental impact
Another measure is to implement production processes with a low environmental impact in order to reduce waste and gas emissions.
Sustainable supply chain
By implementing sustainable supply chains, companies not only achieve the goal of reducing operating costs and increasing productivity, but also reduce waste from work processes, energy and raw materials. In a sustainable supply chain, management (orders, stock, purchases, production, distribution, etc.) is done taking into account the social, economic and environmental impact, in order to promote the health and well-being of human resources and reduce the environmental footprint.
Sustainable packaging
The adoption of sustainable materials also extends to packaging, looking for solutions with a lower environmental impact - these include both choosing packaging made from sustainable materials and reusing them.
Recycling and responsible disposal
Although it's still not very common, companies in the sector are encouraging the responsible disposal and recycling of items that honorees no longer want to keep, and encouraging event organizers to reuse outdated medals, trophies and awards. At Tributus, we have presented our clients with mock-ups aimed at reusing pieces that have not been used in past events.
Certifications and traceability
Another of the commitments to which the sector is committed is investment in certifications that certify, by law, the adoption of sustainable practices, as well as the origin and traceability of the materials used.
Education and awareness
Last but not least, more and more companies see education and awareness of sustainability as a mission. Tributus is one of them; in fact, sustainability is a key concept in our company. From the outset, we have worked to guide clients, partners, suppliers and the general public towards the sustainable options available.
8. Collaborations with Environmental Organizations: Some companies are establishing partnerships with environmental organizations to promote sustainability in the medal and trophy industry.
The commitment to sustainability has been made and the medals, trophies and awards industry, led in Portugal by Tributus, is showing the market how the adoption of ecologically correct materials and processes contributes to improving the living conditions and health of all of us, and of the planet.
