From May 9 to 11, the village of Manteigas, in the heart of Serra da Estrela, will host the 10th edition of this epic trail running event held in Portugal—the Estrela Grande Trail. Athletes and lovers of the sport will arrive from all over the world to run the challenging courses and enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of this region.

About the Estrela Grande Trail

This is an annual trail running event that has been held since 2015 and is organized by Estrela Outdoors Events and the Municipality of Manteigas. The Estrela Grande Trail includes a series of competitive and non-competitive races.
The competitive races count towards the National Trail Running Circuits of the ATRP - Portuguese Trail Running Association, the UTMB Index, and the ITRA - International Trail Running Association championships:
• the Estrela Grande Trail, 105 km long with 5500 m of elevation gain; competitive;
• Estrela Orion Belt, 50 km long with 2,500 m of elevation gain; competitive;
• Estrela Taurus, 33 km long with 1,500 m of elevation gain; competitive;
• Uphill Fragão do Corvo, 6 km long with 700 m of elevation gain; competitive.
The non-competitive races are open to everyone:
• Estrela Ursa Minor, 15 km long with an 800 m elevation gain; open to everyone, including children under 10 if accompanied by an adult;
• Estrela Trail Kids;
• and Estrela Solidária.
