The Picos do Açor 2024 Challenge returns on December 14 and 15 for another edition of adrenaline and fresh air. Athletes and trail running enthusiasts will share the unique experience of running along the trails of Serra do Açor, in the municipality of Arganil.

The 2024 edition of the Picos do Açor Challenge

This edition features races for athletes of different levels and is open to everyone, including children aged six and above. The races for athletes are:
• the 32 km Picos do Açor Challenge with 2000 D+;
• the 18 km Picos do Açor Challenge with 1000 D+;
• the 13 km Desafio Picos do Açor race with 550 D+.
The races open to everyone are the Caminhada do Açor, 13 km with 350 D+, and the Açor Trail Kids, for children and young people aged six to 15.
The routes of the races pass through some of the villages of the Serra do Açor and include trails that have been used for centuries by generations of local inhabitants, offering an opportunity to experience landscapes of rare beauty.

About the Picos do Açor Challenge

The aim of creating a trail running event in this region was to combine a passion for running in nature and on challenging trails with immersion in the region's cultural, historical, and natural heritage.
The Picos do Açor Challenge has been organized by Evolução Vertical and is supported by the Arganil Municipal Council and the parish councils of Arganil and Folques.
In parallel with the sporting event, ExpoTrail Açor, an exhibition of regional products and sports equipment, will also take place.
As in the 2023 edition, this year the organizers of the Picos do Açor Challenge made a point of having eco-friendly and sustainable medals produced by Tributus to award to athletes and participants, according to their classification.
