On November 10, another edition of Cross Torres Vedras – 42nd Matos Velhos Cross Country Race will take place, an event that enlivens the national sporting scene and attracts national and foreign athletics enthusiasts, as well as local visitors and those from other parts of the country, to the region.

What is Cross Torres Vedras?

This is a cross-country event for participants who practice the sport and Portuguese federated athletes.

The Cross Torres Vedras – 42nd Matos Velhos Cross Country Race consists of 15 races, some of which are qualified by the FPA, in which participants are divided according to their respective female and male categories, either individually or in teams. The races take place on a circuit track with grass and dirt sections, ideal conditions for cross-country running.

The history of the event

This cross-country race, considered a classic in Portugal, was first held 42 years ago. The Matos Velhos Cross-Country Race, or Torres Vedras Cross, as it is known today, has been organized by the Matos Velhos Sports, Cultural, and Recreational Group, the União Desportiva do Oeste, and the Torres Vedras City Council.

Any competition worth its salt ends with the presentation of medals and/or trophies, and this iconic event is no exception. Participants will receive their prizes according to their ranking, both collectively and individually.
